Dulwich Village back garden planting design

The client wanted to create some planting at the end of her garden that reminded her of her childhood garden which included cottage garden plants, bluebells and snowdrops under and in front of the bay trees.

A shade-loving design of ferns and carpeting plants under the bay gave way to semi shade-loving foxgloves and hellebores which surround the existing heritage bench which has been moved forward to accommodate the planting. The sunniest areas will have geraniums, salvias and achilleas interspersed with spring flowering flowers and bulbs.

A multi-stem Cherry (Prunus ‘The Bride’) has been planted to help disguise the view of a neighbouring house and two new flowering shrubs have been planted to balance the garden and create interest in the spring and summer.

The planting was finished March 2023.
